Idlewild Park

On Wednesday Audi and I went with Aunt Nellie and a few of her coworkers to Idlewild Park. I've never been there myself, although I had heard it was a very nice park to take younger children (under 8 years old was the recommendation). FYI-The wrist bands they gave use said they were the #2 kids amusement park in the world...I wonder what #1 was!!
We went to Storybook Forest first where there were different Mother Goose nursery rhyme themed areas. The kids loved it! I thought the idea was pretty cute myself...

We brought our own food in and ate in their pavilion area. They also had a kiddie ride area where there were mini cars, bikes, airplanes, and a mini ferris wheel for the little ones to ride. There were a couple of older/adult rides too including a Merry-Go-Round that was also a historic landmark. It was actually too chilly (and would have been too long of a day) to go to the "Soak Zone" where there are apparently lots of fun water things to do. Next time we'll make it there!

Sorry Pap-Pap...but this reminded me of you!

Almost there...

We're gearing up for the Dowiak beach trip at the end of July trying to wrap up some loose ends before we leave. Miles (and his recruitment Grandpa George) have been busy working in the backyard getting the patio ready for concrete. The drains have been put into place so now they're concentrating on leveling the ground, putting down a level of gravel, and getting the rebar into place. And (drum roll please)...they'll be ready for the pour date on Saturday!!! I've gotten so use to dodging holes and wood to get into the house I don't know what I'll do with myself! I know it will all be worth it in the end.

On my end of things I've just finished two papers that are due Tuesday. The only reason these aren't being worked on Monday night is my final is also on Tuesday...so now I have some time to study over the weekend. That leaves one class down and one to go before the beach. My last final for the summer is after the vacation, so I have some built in reading material for the trip. I'm also trying to get my act together to go to the zoo before we leave. An elephant had her baby last week so I would love to take Audi sometime before we leave. One, to show her the baby elephant & two...I want to see it myself! If anyone's interested let me know!

Audi is doing well and enjoying her summer. Whenever we drive past Mt. Lebanon park she says, "Swimming!" and gets supper excited. It's really cute. One of the fun things about this summer is she's getting to be more social with other kids. She really enjoys being around kids, watching them play, and imitating what they do. Her favorite is Maya who is 6 and lives up the street. Here they are eating ice cream...Take a look at Audi's shirt, it has the train from the Science Center on it. She loves it, and picks it out to wear all of the time.
This is Bella and Audi holding hands at the zoo. They're too cute in all that pink!
These are pictures of Autumn before we left for the pool that Aunt Nellie took while we were waiting for her to finish her snack. I got tired of picking her up to show her what I'm doing at the kitchen counter so now she'll run and get her stool for a better look. I haven't figured out if this is a good or bad thing...but it's fun to watch her doing more things on her own. Here's her afternoon snack of pineapple in yogurt...

Anniversary+ Father's Day

I am forewarning everyone that there are no new pictures for this post. Let's say I have misplaced (instead of lost) my camera battery and haven't had a chance to get new pictures taken...but soon hopefully!

Miles and I just celebrated our 3ed wedding anniversary. We were going to go out, but then Autumn came down with a bug being passed around her daycare (anyone ever heard of hand foot and mouth disease?) Needless to say Autumn is feeling much better after a couple of days and we have no more daycare for the summer at least (thanks Aunt Nellie!) So Miles and I had a nice evening at home with takeout Indian food from Nameste. It was actually a very pleasant meal together even with Autumn feeling less than 100%. But I will take a rain check on a nice dinner out if there are any takers for watching the babers!!

For Father's Day we went for a family bike ride on the Montour Trail in Cecil. There's an old railroad tunnel you're able to bike under as well as a park just a couple of miles from our start point (off of the South Point exit on 79). After we situated Autumn in her bike seat and got her helmet on...a feat in of itself...we were off. We rode to the park and enjoyed a lunch before heading back to the cars. During Autumn's nap Miles took a side trip to Ohio for fireworks...don't ask...it must be some guy thing. In the evening Autumn and I went to Miles' soccer game and watched his team beat the number one team so far this season 3-2. On a side note: There's a park at the home soccer field Miles plays at. If I stand on top of the playground where the slide is I'm able to watch the game and Autumn at the same time!

Birthday Weekend

I had a wonderful Birthday weekend this year (I'm now officially 26)! Saturday night Miles took me out to a fabulous restaurant in Mt. Washington called the Georgetown Inn (I think). Anyways, we were seated right at the window and were able to overlook Pittsburgh the entire time. It was so much fun! I didn't bring the camera...but one of these days I'll post some pictures of the Mt. Washington view!!
Sunday after Miles' soccer game we went horseback riding. There's a ranch by Bridgeville that is surprisingly very close. It was beautiful weather so it was fun to be outside riding! We ended the weekend with a gourmet dinner at the Grandparents' house. I think my belly is still full from the triple chocolate cake and seafood pasta. I can't wait for the leftovers today!
This is Slash the horse. He was pretty fun to ride. Miles' horse BP didn't like to run as much...he seemed a bit lazy!
Here's Miles at the stable with a random horse.
Here's cutie Autumn eating!
